Army Proficiency badge (for enlisted men), 3rd class, circa mid-1950s.
In brass and enamels; 42.6 x 30.6 mm. This is the earliest, screw back version of the badge manufactured by the Moscow Mint. The enamels and overall quality are extremely nice for a relatively low ranking badge. The reverse has raised mint mark "MMD".
In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect, free of chips, flaking or any other noticeable wear. The gilt finish is intact and bright. The screw post is full length, nearly 10 mm, and includes original mint marked screw plate.
