Large Silver Medal for Zeal, Nicholas I, 1825-1846.
In silver, 50.0 mm wide; weighs 60.8 grams not including the suspension and ribbon. Variation featuring "young" portrait of Emperor Nicholas I (without mustache). There is no signature of the medallist on truncation.
In fine to very fine condition. The eyelet has been replaced (this appears to be a very old repair). There are minor edge knocks and light contact marks for the field and bas- relief, but very little overall wear. The fine details of the emperor's portrait are exceptionally well preserved. Comes on an old, possibly original St. Anne neck ribbon with clasp which shows wear but is still sound and attractive.
