Although the writing is intact, we could not decipher the abbreviation that specifies the official position of the original owner of the ID. He appears to have been working at the Novo-Sokol'niki railway nexus. A very uncommon early ID: note the Soviet state emblem on the cover featuring seven republics in the Soviet Union. This type of emblem was used only until 1936 and it appears far less frequently on the surviving NKVD credentials than the 11 republic type. In excellent condition. The silver impression and the cover in general are pristine. There are light water stains near the bottom of the internal pages but they do not significantly detract.
