Candy tin from Kazan in the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialistic Republic within the Russian SFSR, circa 1950s, originally held hard caramel lozenges called "Monpans'e".
4" diameter, 1" wide. Russian Soviet FSR "label" across the top, name of confectionery factory across the lower half. Illustration of a stemmed candy dish full of caramel delights. Paper liners may actually date to its initial use as a candy box.
Very good condition. The dulling of the metal finish has occurred from simple age rather than from any sort of mistreatment over the decades. No extraneous bumps or dents. Perfect container for holding hard candy while commuting on Amtrak and reading the latest Martin Cruz Smith novel.
