Lenin's Centenary, commemorative badge, 1970.
Silver, enamels; 33.6 x 15.2 mm. The reverse shows "875" silver hallmark and Cyrillic maker mark "0 LYu" (Russkie Samotsvety ['Russian Gemstones'] workshop in Leningrad, 1970 manufacture). Extremely well made. Shows Lenin's portrait and red carnation, a symbol of Bolshevik revolution. Excellent condition.
Unlike the myriad of znachki pins made for the occasion, this badge was awarded to Communist Party VIPs and could not be purchased in a store or Soyuzpechat' kiosk.
