Porcelain Polka Dot Flower Vase, by Ternopol Factory, Ukraine, 1975 - 2006.

Stands nearly 6" tall. Designed in simple cheerful large white polka-dots on carrot-red background. Maker marked on the bottom (fig. # 706 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al).

In very good to excellent condition. The only wear visible to the naked eye are two tiny chips to the glaze against the red background, and, to the left of them, vertical discolorations that look like scratches, hard to determine whether they are on or under the glaze. Surprisingly, the band of gilt rimming the lip, usually the first to show wear, is pristine.

A vase like this was meant for the kitchen, to hold a small bunch of field flowers or a single larger flower to liven up the kitchen table. Very often the design matched a tea service, and sometimes was even sold as a part of a tea service set.

Please note that the white rose in our photo is for size reference.
