Excellent Tractor Driver badge, mid 1940s.
Brass, enamels; 46.7 mm x 39.5 mm. The first version of the Tractor Driver badge, featuring large center medallion and the top ornament consisting of 5 scrolls with well-defined upper border.
In excellent condition, absolutely superb for a combat proficiency badge of WW2 era. The enamel on the medallion shows almost none of the usual wear, completely free of any chips, flaking or significant scratches. It retains beautiful luster and has only some tiny contact marks and scuffs. There are only minor scratches to hammer & sickle emblem, while the raised details of the tractor and wreath are extremely well preserved and crisp; nearly all of their original gilt finish is still present. The fragile grey finish on the border of the shield is almost entirely intact. The silver finish on the reverse is practically pristine.
The screw post is full length, over 13 mm, and includes original screw plate marked "ShMZ NKPS" which fits perfectly. To summarize, it would be extremely difficult to find a better example of the WW2 Military Tractor Driver badge.
