The issue case for foreigners differs greatly in design from "domestic" such cases. Its lid is separate from the bottom, there is no hinge. Instead of the calligraphy, the lid is decorated with seven inlaid golden or gold-plated paulownia crests while the title, written in kanji, is on the inside of the lid. The bottom part of the box features a fitted pad in purple velvet and space for the ribbon. Two intricately woven 40-cm long purple cords ending in pom-poms are attached to the sides of the box.

In very fine condition. Some of the white-enameled rays show tiny hairlines, some of the translucent red enamel "jewels" show minuscule chips on the surface and, as much as can be seen through, at the bottom near the setting. The wear is not too obvious and not too intrusive to the eye. The reverse is free of significant scuffs or scratches. The watered silk ribbon is very clean, the gold plating on its buckle is mostly intact and retains its luster. The clasp is in perfect working order.

The case is in excellent condition, showing just an occasional tiny scuff or scratch and a tiny chip to the lacquer of the front right-hand corner. The fitted velvet pad inside is affixed well and is holding strong.

The Order of the Sacred Treasure was founded by Emperor Meiji's edict of 1 January 1888 to be bestowed upon persons who had rendered distinguished service to the state. It was awarded to the military and civilians, and in May 1919 was extended to women. However, just a few of them were awarded to women, especially in the higher classes.
