Betrayed by a member of the organization whose identity is still unknown, they were captured, tortured, and executed in winter of 1943. A large memorial in their honor was erected in Krasnodon, of which this monument is a part. The inscription on the plinth reads "To heroes of Young Guard from the Lenin Young Communist League of Ukraine."

In very good condition. The silver-colored finish on the figures of the monument is slightly worn off on high points. The vertical parts of the souvenir have been re-glued to the base with a little excess glue showing along the seam - not too obvious or detractive.

Please note that the medal in our photo is for size reference.
