Medal for Victory over Germany, Variation 1, circa 1945-47.
Medal for Victory over Germany, Variation 1, circa 1945-47.
Brass, 32.3 mm wide. In excellent condition. The medal is free of significant flaws of any kind. The Stalin's bas-relief has a couple of tiny dings that are unnoticeable to the naked eye; its details remain extremely well-preserved and crisp. The reverse is free of any detectable wear. There are some very tiny, barely noticeable oxidation spots and light blemishes on both sides that are not detractive, while the toning to the brass is attractive and uniform throughout. Some of the original "gilt" mint luster is still clearly visible in recessed areas around the lettering on both sides. The medal comes on original suspension device of early post-war vintage, a two-layer model in brass with integral catch of the pin. The old, possibly original ribbon is perfectly preserved and clean. Overall, a very attractive example of Variation 1 Victory Medal.
