Partisan Medal, 1st class, 1940s-50s.
In silver. 32.2 mm wide; approx. 2.7 mm thick at the edge. Weighs 21.0 grams without suspension and connecting link. Variation with raised border around the edge of the obverse. Features "snub-nosed" portrait of Lenin with beard turned down at its tip. The hammer and sickle emblem on the reverse has a small projection over the edge of the sickle, above the handle.
In excellent condition. There are a few tiny dings and scratches, but the medal shows much less overall wear than usual. The details of the bas-relief portraits are exceptionally crisp, practically pristine. There is very attractive dark patina on both sides. Comes on original suspension, a WW2 two-layer model in steel with self-locking pin. The ribbon, while very clean, shows modest amount of wear, even though it is probably not of the same vintage as the medal itself. The connecting link appears to be original as well, and its ends are joined with solder.
This Partisan Medal is among the best examples we have handled in recent years.
