In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect with the exception of a few tiny contact marks and internal imperfections to enamel on the center medallion - some of which may be manufacturing flaws that appear on other known examples. The lacquer is nicely preserved. Nice, even toning to the brass. The ribbon is old, probably original to the medal.

Although the Title of Honored Metallurgist of RSFSR was established in 1975; however, the medal was probably instituted with a significant delay, most likely in the early to mid-80s. The overall quality and the mint marks in particular point out to the early 1980s manufacture.
