The medal is in brass and enamels; medallion measures 29.2
and weighs 13.8 g not including the suspension and
link; overall weight with suspension is 21.6 g. This is the
first version of the medal featuring soldered eyelet and
peculiar construction of the suspension: with a back plate
serving as a base for the pin attachment and having a
projection for the connecting link.
In very fine to excellent condition. The enamel on the
suspension device has scratches, rubbing and scuffs but no
penetrating chips or significant flaking. Details of the
medallion are nicely preserved and crisp. Nice even toning
brass on both sides with some of the original "gilt" mint
luster still clearly visible in recessed areas.
