Badge of Coal Miner's Glory, 3rd class, Leningrad Mint version, circa late 1970s - early 1980s.

Badge of Coal Miner's Glory, 3rd class, Leningrad Mint version, circa late 1970s - early 1980s.

Brass, enamels, lacquer. The massive medallion measures 54.6 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 43.4 mm in width. Two-piece construction: the star is a separate, superimposed part attached by rivets. Shows Leningrad mint logo "LMD" on the reverse, near the eyelet. This very large and imposing award is often incorrectly referred to as Order of Coal Miner's Glory.

In excellent condition. The enamel and lacquer are perfect. Very light wear the silver finish on the star, but no significant dings or scratches; the ridges of the star remain perfectly crisp. There is mild tarnish on the reverse, not visually detractive.
