Medal of Honored Lawyer of RSFSR, 1981 - 1995 issue.
In German silver, gilded tombak and lacquer, medallion
measures 30.3 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 26.7 mm in width;
riveted 2-piece construction. Early style mint mark ММД
(Moscow Mint) to the reverse of the suspension device.
In excellent, near mint condition. The lacquer finish is
extremely well preserved, almost pristine. The gilt on the
wreath is perfect and bright.
The Title of Honored Lawyer of RSFSR was established in 1966
but like with most other "Honored" titles, the medal - or
rather "an honorary badge" by the official Soviet
classification - was introduced much later, in 1981. We can
assume that at that point, the medal was back-issued to all
the earlier holders of the Title who were still alive. The
award was bestowed upon some of the most distinguished
Soviet law professors, judges, prosecutors and - probably
very rarely - defense attorneys.
