In napped black wool with white piping. Characteristically
small, early style top. The cap tally reads "Naval Border
Guard Units". Comes with correct WW2 type hat badge in
brass-plated steel and enamel. The liner shows stamp of
Samoylova Factory in Leningrad with a 1958 date (the stamp
is worn but clearly legible under the black light.) Marked
size 54 (US 6 3/4, Small.) There is a hand-written name "I.
Dyakov" - possibly the original owner - on the inside of the
sweat band. A previous owner also left a needle (now
somewhat rusted) with some spear thread neatly tucked under
the sweatband in regulation fashion.
In outstanding excellent condition. The hat shows age but no
mothing or stains. There is light wear to the nap of the
wool on the crown, but no threadbare areas or other damage.
The liner and sweatband are sound and extremely clean,
completely free of the usual soiling.
