Officer's leather map case, circa late 1930s.

Measures approx. 8¼" x 11". A solid, well-made piece. The interior is separated into two compartments by an integral canvas divider. The front compartment has several holders for pencils, compass etc. The map case is expandable to hold numerous maps, notebooks and manuals; and includes leather belt loops on the back with carbine clip attachments for a shoulder sling. The fittings are in nickel-plated steel. Comes with an original period shoulder strap.

In very good to excellent condition. Shows only minimal wear and use; the leather is still sound and "healthy", not overly dry. T

All the original metal hardware is present, completely functional, and shows practically none of the usual oxidation. One of the belt loops has been repaired with thread, obviously a very old repair - quite possibly of the period and done in the field.

Overall, a very well preserved and presentable map case that can be a nice addition to a Soviet WW2 officer's kit.
