In bronze, 60 mm wide. Signed by the sculptor's initials, A.S. The obverse features a 3-D image of the gigantic monument to Stalin, which was built in Prague and unveiled on 1 May 1955. The wording on the verso reads, in Czech, "to the builders of the monument to J.V. Stalin in Prague, 1 May 1955." The medal comes in its original cardboard presentation box, with the fitted indentation for the medal lined with brown velvet.

The medal is in excellent condition. There are no chips, nicks, scuffs or scratches visible to the naked eye. Mild patina in the recessed areas accents the 3D relief of the artwork. The box shows mild wear to the corners, not too noticeable. It is structurally sound, the bronze hinges are tight, the ornamental bronze latch is in perfect working order.

The sculptor of the monument, Otakar Svec, killed himself just days before the unveiling. The 51-foot (15.5m) statue of Stalin was the largest in the world.

The unveiling of the monument happened shortly before the process of de-Stalinization spread from the Soviet Union to its satellite Eastern European countries. In 1962, by order of the Soviet government, the monument was demolished with 1,800 lbs (800 kg) of explosives.
