Leatherette-wrapped hard cover with the State Emblem of the USSR embossed in high relief, and the full title underneath, reading "Constitution (main law) of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics." The spine of this pocket edition is elaborately decorated with embossed lines, the star at the head and the hammer and sickle at the foot framing the short title "CONSTITUTION OF THE USSR". This is the so-called "Stalin's Constitution", voted into law on 5 December 1936 by the VIII Congress of the Councils of Workers' and Peasants' Deputies.
The text is in Russian but one of the flyleaves features "Printed in the Soviet Union" in English, suggesting that this edition was meant for foreign distribution. Two more pages feature finely detailed lithographs of the Lenin-Stalin duo portraits and the State Emblem of the USSR with eleven scrolls for eleven Soviet socialist republics comprising the Soviet Union at the time. This version existed from 1937 to 1946. The national flag of the USSR concludes the imagery.
The book is in very good to excellent condition. Minor storage wear to the cover and microscopic scuffs at the head and foot of the spine add to the sense of age and authenticity. The textblock is pristine. The binding is tight and strong.
