Brass, enamels; measures 45.9 x 35.6 mm; weighs 16.5 g without the screw plate. This scarce early variation of the badge was manufactured by the Moscow Artists Cooperative (MTKh). Features a very distinct elongated shape of the shield with the spade-shaped lower portion. The center medallion has a pronounced dome. There is a vertical groove pattern under the red enamel.

In excellent condition - absolutely outstanding for any award of "combat proficiency" series. The enamel shows magnificent luster throughout and appears absolutely perfect to the unaided eye; the few microscopic contact marks can barely be detected even under a 10x magnification. The raised details of the goblet and serpent are likewise pristine. The gold finish to the wreath and the dark finish around the shield are perfect, and so is the silver and gilt finish on the reverse. The screw post is full length, measuring over 12 mm in length, and comes with an original screw plate marked "Moscow Artists Cooperative". To summarize, this is a truly perfect example of the Excellent Medic badge - one of the best of this version we have seen.
