Stalin Birthplace Shrine Keepsake or Souvenir Box, circa early 1950s.

Sturdy Bakelite-like plastic, measuring approx. 4" high x 7 ¼" wide x 5" deep with the lid on. The artwork on the lid is an image of the monumental covering that was built in 1935 to surround and protect the Dzhugashvili homestead, Stalin's birthplace, in Gori, Georgia. The inscription on the lid identifies the scene as the home of "I. V. Stalin". A Tbilisi factory trademark is on the bottom in raised relief. The box is undated, but its date of manufacture would have certainly have been from somewhere in the immediate post-WW2 years to the period of "de-Stalinization" in the mid-1950s.
