The hat is in excellent overall condition. It has kept its shape beautifully. The wool is completely free of the usual moth bites or tracks. The patent leather visor is perfect. The gold embroidery is likewise perfectly preserved and tight, without any loose strands. Although the hat has been worn, both the interior and exterior are immaculately clean. The threads connecting the liner to the cardboard backing under the sweat band near the visor are torn, but the liner is still completely sound and firmly attached (we showed this area in our photos). The flaw is completely unnoticeable when the sweat band is in its normal position and the hat is either displayed or worn; nor does it affect in any way the utility or durability of the hat. Beside this minor problem, the hat is really a superb example.
