Navy Admiral Summer Full-Dress Visor Hat, 1989 - early 1990s.
The crown is in white wool gabardine, with black band. The hat badge is the larger, full-dress version with gold bullion embroidered wreath and a two-piece center cockade in anodized aluminum and paint. Gold oak leaf and acorn embroidery to the visor; matching chin cord in gold metallic filigree.
The sweat shield does not have any manufacturer's markings which is typical of the hats made to order by small Soviet tailor shops. Also typical for an individually tailored hat is the sweat band that is in oilcloth rather than genuine leather and does not have the perforation for adjus

The sweat shield does not have any manufacturer's markings which is typical of the hats made to order by small Soviet tailor shops. Also typical for an individually tailored hat is the sweat band that is in oilcloth rather than genuine leather and does not have the perforation for adjustment tape often found on hats for admirals and generals produced by larger factories. The side buttons are the special style for admirals: with the Soviet state seal and anchors. On the back, they show the Mosshtamp factory logo and an "89" date of manufacture, indicating that the hat was made in 1989 (at the earliest) or during the following few years. The size is not marked but appears to be approximately 58 (US size 7 ¼ / Large).
In very good to excellent condition. The crown is completely free of moth bites and shows virtually no wear aside from some tiny snags and scuffs at the edge. The exterior has no stains and only some minor storage dust that may clean off nicely. The interior shows light sweat staining around the sweat shield, not really detractive (and certainly not visible when the hat is displayed on a Styrofoam head or on a shelf). Overall, a nice example of a late-vintage Soviet for an admiral's full-dress uniform.
