Desktop plaque with sculptured profile of Lenin, circa 1970s.

In steel with bronze coating and anodized aluminum frame. Measures 4" in diameter. Massive for its size, weighs almost 10 oz. The name of the sculptor of the original artwork, N. Sokolov, is in relief on the shoulder undercut:

Uncommonly, maker marked on the swivel base. The swivel base features a sturdy wire stand. Unlike some similar pieces that we have seen, the swivel base also has a keyhole-shaped mount that allows hanging the plaque on the wall.

In very good to excellent condition; shows light nicks to the frame while the artwork within the frame is without a blemish.

The original mold for this portrait was created by the acclaimed Soviet artist Nikolay Sokolov, who won as many as five Stalin Prize awards in the course of his career. He was actually best known for his graphic works, especially propaganda cartoon drawings he made during WW2 as a member of the famous Kukryniksy team, but most collectors associate him with this iconic likeness of Lenin and with a similarly iconic likeness of Stalin.
