The liner is marked Size 55 (US size 6 7/8 / Small). There is a factory quality control stamp to the underside of the sweat band.

The hat is in excellent condition. It has kept its saddle shape beautifully. The wool fabric of the crown is completely free of noticeable moth damage, which is very uncommon for a Soviet hat of the 1950s period. The band has only a couple of tiny moth nips on the back, noticeable onbly at close inspection. Both the interior and exterior are very clean with the exception of a couple of tiny spots on the top of the crown that can be found only at close inspection under a bright light. The sweat band and liner show almost no wear. The metal motif on the visor is perfect and tightly attached, with all of its prongs intact.

This attractive early hat was used for only a brief period from 1955-58. It is a very uncommon find in such a superb condition.
