Order of Soldier's Honor, 1st class, Type 1, circa 1950s.

Silver gilt, enamels, measures 49.3 mm in height x 47.6 mm in width; weighs 35.4 g not including the screw plate. This beautiful Type 1 piece is in solid silver and shows trademark quality of the Soviet mint manufacture. This beautiful Type 1 piece is in solid silver and shows trademark quality of the Soviet mint manufacture. Like most early DPRK orders made in the Soviet Union, this is probably an award of the Korean War era.

In outstanding, excellent condition - one of the best examples and possibly the best we've ever offered for sale. The enamel is exceptionally very well preserved and shows beautiful luster. There are no more than a few microscopic contact marks that are completely unnoticeable to the naked eye, no wear visible without magnification. The center medallion and wreath are likewise essentially pristine, showing no wear even to the highest points of the artwork - a very uncommon case for a DPRK award of the early period. There is a very attractive even toning to silver on both sides of the badge, while the original gold plating on the wreath and edges of the shield is clearly visible, albeit pale and partly overtaken by silver patina. The screw post is of full or near full length, approx. 13.5 mm, and comes with an original screw plate.

To summarize, a perfect example of one of the harder to find DPRK decorations of Soviet manufacture - in our opinion, practically impossible to upgrade.
