Some of the photos show the monument in perspective, from faraway places in Yerevan. Seeing it towering over the city, you begin to appreciate its enormous dimensions: 16.5m (54') statue standing on top of the 33m (108') pedestal. That put Stalin's head at over 162 feet above ground.

For twelve years, Stalin looked down on the capital city of Armenia, one of the oldest continuously occupied cities in the world, until it was replaced in 1962 by the statue "Mother Armenia" by sculptor Ara Harutyunyan. And just so you know, she is taller than Stalin by about 5 feet. Even in bronze, Stalin caused death and pain. Dismantling the monument, one soldier was killed and several others wounded.

The book is in very good to excellent condition. It has been exposed to moisture at some point, leaving not much in the way of water stains but slight warping of the cover and the coated paper of the photo illustrations. The cover also has a couple of tiny and faint reddish stains and a bit of wear to the corners and ends of the spine. The pages with text show no damage whatsoever, and the water damage to the photo illustrations is minimal and not too detractvie.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
