Measures 56" x 33". Artificial silk. Three 3 ½" x 2 ½" loops for attaching to a flag pole. The obverse features profiles of Lenin and Marx with inscription "Under the banner of Marxism-Leninism, Under the Leadership of the Communist Party, Forward to the Victory of Communism!" The inevitable communist motto "Proletarians of all countries, unite!" is on top left but in surprisingly small font, considering the size of the banner. The reverse shows the Emblem of the USSR over inscription "Glory to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics!" Double-layered construction allows for different graphics and lettering on each side without see-through.

In very good to excellent condition. The portraits are somewhat faded but both men are completely recognizable. The silk's color is vibrant and not at all faded. There are a few minor "catches" to the silk on the side with the portraits, hardly noticeable and not at all detractive. The fringe is all in place and has retained its full original luster.

The flag is a little unusual: while the motto on the obverse was the most frequently repeated one on flags of the USSR, Karl Marx's image does not seem to have appeared quite as frequently on Cold War era flags as it did during the 1920s and 1930s.

This is the sort of flag one might expect to see displayed in the office of a party apparatchik in a high position on the ladder of communist nomenclature.
