The cap is in unissued near mint condition: perfectly preserved and free of stains, mildew, musty smell or other problems common for items that have spent decades in an uninsulated Soviet military warehouse.

These distinctive caps were designed before WW2 to fill the need for a practical & rugged cap for troops deployed to tropical border regions. The cap became famous during the occupation of Afghanistan where it was synonymous with the Soviet fighting man.
