Medal for Best College Student Science Project, circa late 1970s - 80s.
Medal for Best College Student Science Project, circa late 1970s - 80s.
Silver-plated brass, enamel. The medal is 25.1 mm in diameter; suspension device is 23.7 mm wide. Very well made, with beautifully detailed raised images of male and female college students holding the globe. Note that the young man is clutching the book in his other hand, while the woman is cradling the requisite sheaf of wheat which is this case looks suspiciously similar to a bouquet of flowers (don't tell your feminist friends.) Reverse has lettering "Ministry of Higher and Vocational Education of the USSR" (this ministry was established in late 1950s and existed until 1988). The reverse of the suspension device shows late style circular logo of the Moscow Mint.
In excellent, near mint condition. The enamel has tiny manufacturing imperfections but no damage or wear of any kind. The silver finish is perfect.
