Gilded brass, enamel; 34.1 x 24.5 mm. Riveted 3-piece
state emblem and the palm fronds are separate, superimposed
parts. Magnificent quality, showing nice rippling effect
under the enamel, similar to badges of Supreme Soviet
members and delegates of Communist Party congresses. The

In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect and shows
beautiful luster. The gilt finish is likewise perfectly
preserved and bright.
This badge is representative of the crème de la crème of
Soviet elite. Established in 1974, the Diplomatic Corps
Academy had only a few coveted spots, usually reserved for
the offspring of top party functionaries. Some of the
graduates were KGB and GRU agents, hand-picked for
assignments in the western countries.
