Badge in Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of
Kazakhstan, 1935-36 issue.
In silver-plated brass and enamels; measures 46.2 mm tall,
36.4 mm wide. Very impressive and massive two-piece
construction badge with superimposed Stalin's portrait. Nice
quality, with standard Soviet propaganda themes executed in
exquisite detail.
In very fine to excellent condition, far better than most
other specimens of this badge that we've encountered. The
enamel retains magnificent luster and appears absolutely
perfect on the first glance. A careful examination with a
magnifying glass reveals a few tiny surface flakes: one to
the center of the "X" and a few even tinier ones at the
lower edge of the red enameled segments at the bottom of the
badge. To reiterate, all of these imperfections are
practically unnoticeable to the naked eye.
The fragile silver finish on the obverse is almost
completely intact having only minor wear to the high points
- a very uncommon case. The details of the artwork are
pristine. The silver plating on the reverse is also nearly
pristine, with just a touch of wear to the edges. The screw
post is full length, over 11.5 mm long. Comes with original
screw plate.
The badge was awarded in mid 1930s to selected VIPs.
