WW1 mounted dispatch messenger book, circa 1915
Printed in Petrograd, published by Voin ("Warrior") Publishing House in Moscow. Both front cover and the title page display the publishing house logo.
The book contains official forms for written messages, with entries for addressee, exact time of the dispatch, place where it originated and tempo of riding (depending on the urgency of the message). Fascinating item of military bureaucracy, and an something that would have been commonly seen in field command posts. Excellent for map case display.
Each page had a tear-off part with the message to be delivered, and additional tear-off receipt to be kept by the messenger, certifying the delivery.
The book is in excellent, mostly unused condition. Four first pages have message part separated along the perforations. The others (over 3 dozen) are intact. The title page has entries for owner's name, rank and unit but has not been filled out. The back cover shows scales for map reading.
Excellent clean condition.
