Medical School Graduate badge, circa late 1950s - 1960s.
Brass, enamels; 47.2 x 25.8 mm. Riveted three-piece construction: the Soviet state emblem and the traditional Russian medical emblem, the bowl of Hygeia, are separate superimposed parts attached by a rivet and two wires. Reverse shows raised early style mint mark ЛМД ("LMD") of the Leningrad Mint. The quality of enamel is superb, as typical of the Soviet school graduation badges from the 50s-60s.
Excellent condition. Both the red and white enamels are flawless and show beautiful luster. The details of the state emblem are perfect and crisp, with good amount of original gilt finish visible in its recessed areas. There are a few minor dings to the bowl, not detractive or very noticeable. The screw post is of full length, nearly 11 mm measured from the reverse of the badge, and includes original screw plate with Leningrad Mint logo.
