Choibalsan Sharpshooter Badge, 1940s-60s issue.

Brass, enamels; 35.8 mm wide. In excellent condition, very uncommon for this badge. The enamel is perfect, completely free of even tiny contact marks or flakes, and shows beautiful luster. The original fire gilt finish is nicely preserved and bright on both sides, and the details of the soldier are pristine and exceptionally crisp. The screw post has been shortened for convenience, but its current length of approx. 9 mm is more than enough for proper functionality. Unlike most other surviving examples, this specimen retains its original screw plate marked "Moscow Art

Unlike most other surviving examples, this specimen retains its original screw plate marked "Moscow Artists Cooperative" (during the 40s, this Soviet workshop manufactured a number of Mongolian medals and badges some of which could be issued well into the 60s.)

Overall, this specimen is a premium example of the iconic Mongolian sharpshooter's award. /See A. Battushig, Mongolian Orders, Medals & Badges, p. 80, fig. C08/.
