Silver gilt, enamels. Measures 50.7 mm in height including the eyelet, 37.7 mm in width; weighs 38.2 g not including the suspension and connecting link.

This piece is among the earliest of the suspension type Orders of Red Banner of Labor, and unlike most, it was almost certainly awarded during the Patriotic War. The mint mark located near the top is slightly curved up and measures approximately 7 mm in width. This type of mint mark is found only on the Red Banners of Labor in the currently known serial number range of 21016 through 26568 (for suspension type), according to Mondvor.narod.ru, and also on the earlier screw back types. Note the small maker mark "X" to the right of the mint mark near the flagpole finial. The serial number is engraved near the center just above the lower rivets. There is characteristic "spillover" gilt along the upper and lower edges of the reverse which is characteristic of the early issues. In excellent condition, an exceptionally attractive piece free of significant flaws. There are only a couple of tiny surface flakes to the red enamel at the upper edge of the banner, barely noticeable without magnification, and a few microscopic contact marks. The enamel is otherwise perfect and retains beautiful luster. The details of the artwork are perfect; original gilt is beautifully preserved and bright on the wreath, ears of wheat, flagpole, and the hammer & sickle emblem.

Attractive light toning to silver on the reverse. The rivets are completely intact and tight. The order comes on original suspension device, a WW2 two-layer model in steel with self-locking pin. The nicely preserved ribbon is old although probably more recent than the decoration itself. The connecting link appears to be original, and its ends are still joined with solder.
