Young Dreamer (Boy with a Toy Space Rocket), cast iron figurine by the Kasli Iron Works, 1964.

Measures 8" in overall height (including the boy's outstretched arm). The original artwork for this statuette was created by sculptor Panov circa 1961. Showing a boy playing with a toy space rocket and model of a planet, this statuette evokes the aspirations of the space age generation of Soviet kids. It comes right from the era of the early Soviet triumphs in space: the Sputnik-1 was launched just a few year prior in 1958, while Gagarin's space flight took place in 1961. The statuette is fairly scarce: it is rated R-2 for rarity in the Zak's Cast Iron Art cat

In very good overall condition. The statuette has been repainted to prevent it from rust. One of the screws holding the figurine to the plinth is slightly lose, but it nevertheless provides sound attachment. There are no noticeable dents or other damage.
