At the bottom is nicely detailed tractor laying a pipe. Designation "СЭВ" (aka Comecon in English usage or Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, a Soviet-dominated trade union of the Communist countries).

In excellent condition; shows only very light stains to finish, mostly on the reverse and not detracting. The ribbon is nice and clean.

The medal was issued by the Executive Committee of Comecon to workers and engineers who had taken part in the construction of the strategic Soyuz pipeline. When finished to great fanfare, this pipeline greatly increased Soviet ability to sell natural gas to Central and Western Europe. It remains a formidable instrument of Russia's political pressure to this day.
