Stalin Factory #19, Narkomat of Heavy Industry, award badge, early to mid 1930s.

Brass, enamels; 25.1 mm wide. Extremely nice quality. Shows red airplane flying over the blue globe. The inscription on the blue border reads: "Factory #19 (named after) I.V. Stalin. USSR NKTP (Narkomat of Heavy Industry". The artwork is a throwback to the constructivist art of the early 1920s.

In excellent condition, very uncommon for a badge of its era. The enamel shows beautiful luster and is essentially pristine, free of noticeable wear. Nicely A good amount of the fragile silver plating on the reverse is still intact. The screw post is full length, over 8.

In excellent condition, very uncommon for a badge of its era. The enamel shows beautiful luster and is essentially pristine, free of noticeable wear. Nicely A good amount of the fragile silver plating on the reverse is still intact. The screw post is full length, over 8.5 mm. Includes original wing nut marked "Vsekokhudozhnik Factory, Moscow" which has one of the "wing" loops repaired or strengthened with extra solder but is otherwise intact and fits perfectly. Overall, an extremely attractive piece.

The badge was issued as an award to one of the workers who took part in building this key aircraft engine factory in the Siberian city of Perm or for outstanding achievements in production during its first months of operation. Much of weapon production in the Soviet Union was conducted under the guise of "Heavy Industry".
