Moscow Institute of Aviation (MAI) graduate badge, with
original case of issue, circa 1970s.
Brass gilt, silver-plating, enamels; 46.1 x 22.8 mm. Two-
piece construction. Nice design with soaring Mig fighter.
Reverse shows raised "LMD" logo of the Leningrad Mint.
In excellent condition. The enamel shows beautiful luster
and is free of any wear noticeable to the naked eye. The
gilt and silver finish are extremely well preserved with
just a minimal tarnish on the reverse that is not
detractive. The screw post is full length, over 9.5 mm, and
includes original mint marked screw plate.
The badge comes with original case of issue in pink
cardboard, complete with the inner pad for the badge. The
box is in excellent condition. The paper connecting the lid
to the lower part of the box is slightly loose but is still
connected to the box and is no danger of separating. The box
is overall sound and very clean.
