Tokarev SVT-40 bayonet complete with scabbard and integral
leather frog, early 1940s.
Blade is 9 3/4", fullered. The scabbard is 2nd type, with
flat point. The blade shows several maker marks. Pommel with
fully functional retaining mechanism. The cross guard has
engraved serial number "726". The scabbard has original
The blade is in superb condition showing almost no wear and
totally free of pitting or rust (Soviet practice was for the
arsenal to reblue every bayonet before putting it into
storage). Scabbard is also in excellent condition, with none
of the usual big dents to the flat portions or dings to the
lip. There are some miniscule scratches along one of the
edge near the lip, barely noticeable.
The hardwood grip is extremely well-preserved with almost
all of the original warmish still present, no significant
wear, chips or cracks.
This bayonet was coated in cosmoline at some point after WW
2 and spent the next several decades in storage - until the
Soviet Army no longer needed it, having begun to use an
entirely new generation of weapons.
