Medal of a Holder of Honored Title of Azerbaijan Soviet
Socialist Republic, circa 1970s - 80s.
German silver, "cold" enamels; medallion measures 27.7 mm in
diameter. The suspension shows raised logo "LMD" (Leningrad
Mint). The obverse shows ancient "Maiden's Tower" in Baku and
an oil derrick.
In excellent condition. The enamel and details are perfect.
There is only minimal wear to the nickel finish. The copper
screw post is full length, approx. 11 mm, and comes with
original screw plate marked "Leningrad Mint".
The medal was probably introduced during the 70s. Unlike many
other Soviet republics that had medals specific to the title,
Azerbaijan issued a single generic award to holders of all of
its "Honored" titles (there was also a similar medal for all
"People's" titles of Azerbaijani SSR.)
