The enemy soldiers seen here cower in front of the onrushing Russian cavalrymen; one weeps while others raise their hands to surrender. "Through the reconnaissance of ***** [unit name removed by military censor] our Cossacks spied a German supply train heading for the forward positions with a large amount of weapons, ammunition cartridges and food provisions. Despite the numerical superiority of the Germans, the [Cossacks] charged upon them in a dashing charge destroying over half; some of the Germans took to flights while the others surrendered seeking quarter. We captured a large amount of booty. "
The print is in good overall condition. The colors are remarkably fresh. For best display, we would recommend mounting it on linen. The edges show a few of the very minor tears attributable to prolonged storage. The lower left hand corner once showed a minor crumple; it was taken care of by the application of acid-free tape.
