Police Officer hat badge, 1937-1939.
In bronze-plated magnetic steel and enamels. Measures 41.2
mm tall x 36.5 mm wide. This piece is of superb quality,
especially for a hat badge.
The enamel appears perfect on the first glance and has
magnificent luster. A careful examination reveals tiny
internal cracks in the uppermost red scroll on the left;
there are however no enamel losses. All other scrolls are
pristine, and so are the red star, blue enamel on the globe
and pink pearl-like enamel on the sun and USSR map.
The raised details are perfect and extremely crisp. Some of
the fragile gilt finish is still present, especially in
recessed areas. The attachment prongs are completely intact
and functional.
All in all, this is a really outstanding piece!
