Medal for Combat Service, Type 1, Var 2, #30084, circa 1942 issue.

Silver, enamel; the medallion measures 32.1 mm wide and weighs 14.8 grams not including the suspension and connecting link. The medallion of this variation is identical to Variation 1: thick (averaging 2.7 mm at the edge), with fine quality enamel in the letters and hand- engraved serial number. This is the second sub-variation of Variation 2, with suspension device in silver and a brass screw post. According to currently available research data, less than 10000 Variation 2 have been produced (both sub- variations combined).

Condition is excellent, with intact enamel and very little wear to silver. The suspension device is of circa 1942 vintage, from an early Variation 3 medal, but certainly contemporary to the approximate period of issue of this specimen. It includes original back plate, hexagon nut and the screw plate. The ribbon shows age although it's probably not as old as the suspension itself. The connecting link has been cut but appears to be original to the medal.
