Volgograd podstakanniki, a pair of souvenir teacup holders featuring Stalingrad's post WW2 name in English, Spanish, German, and Russian. Sturdy anodized aluminum construction with original, official Soviet era price of 1 ruble 80 kopecks stamped on the bottom. Circa 1970s-80s.
3" high (not including the handle) with a base that measures 3 1/8" in diameter. Designed to hold tempered glass inserts for drinking tea.
Very good to excellent condition. While these are a matched pair, we want to point out that the gold finish on one is a little darker than the other.
We do not have glass inserts for these. For the record: sometimes glass tumblers sold in kitchen supply stores will fit in Soviet holders like this - the important thing is to make certain that what you use is made of tempered glass! Otherwise, you run the risk of the glass breaking as soon as you pour hot water into it.
