Excellent Combat Engineer badge, mid 1940s.
Brass, enamels. The first, elongated version of the badge,
measuring 47.8 mm x 38.1 mm. Features scallop-shaped top
ornament, with 7 small scrolls.
In very fine to excellent condition, outstanding for a badge
of this vintage. The red enamel is beautifully preserved
overall and retains very attractive luster. There are only
some tiny contact marks and microscopic scratches in the
center and several internal hairlines in the lower portion -
none of which is easily noticeable without magnification.
The white enamel on the band has a couple of tiny flakes
that are also nearly unnoticeable. The wreath has
exceptionally crisp details and still retains a good amount
of its original silver finish.
The silver finish on the reverse is nearly pristine. The
screw post is of full length, approx. 12.5 mm , and comes
with original screw plate maker marked "ShMZ NKPS".
