"The Russo Japanese War. A Photographic and Descriptive
Review of the Great Conflict in the Far East", copyright
1904, huge 11½" x 16" photo book, 144 pages with large
format photos on near every page. Includes detailed
photographic record of the entire conflict starts from its
first days in February 1904 and ending with the battles of
Mukden and Tsushima Strait in the spring of 1905.
Condition is good overall. The cover shows wear to the
corners and minor amount of soiling, however it is still
very presentable. The rubberized red cover of the spine has
minor separations on ends, easy to repair with some paper
glue if desired. The binding is sound. The first and large
internal pages separated and have been secured with some
translucent backing tape which is now peeling, but there are
no missing pages; spine itself holding all pages together
tight.
Fascinating book with views from both the Japanese and
Russian sides. An incredible feat by pioneer news / war
photographers who carried heavy box cameras and fragile
glass plate negatives with them in the field. Long out of
print and never reprinted, this book is among the finest
visual references on this war.
