25th Anniversary of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (СЭВ), Commemorative Medal, 1974.
Brass gilt, enamels; 33.2 mm in diameter. Very well made medal showing the high-rise building of the headquarters of the organization (a landmark in the relatively low-built Moscow) and the flags of the 9 participant countries (Soviet Union, nearly all of Eastern Europe, Mongolia, and Cuba). On the reverse are the Roman numeral "XXV" and the name of the council in the languages of the participant countries.
In very fine to excellent condition. The gilt has only minimal amount of tarnish, not detractive. The details are perfect and crisp, the enamel on the flags

The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance was created to
provide framework for the economic integration of the
communist bloc in the post-WW2 world. Essentially it was a
tool of Soviet control but much of its function involved
USSR subsidizing the "client" states through supplies of
cheap oil.
