Northern Fleet Cap Tally for a sailor's "Donald Duck" Beskozyrka cap, 1950s - 1965.
Measures about 56" long, 1 ¼" wide - standard regulation size.
The tally is of the early type, before the name of the fleet changed to "Order of the Red Banner Northern Fleet" in 1965. That year the fleet received its award of Order of the Red Banner, and from that point on its complete name would always include honorific title "Krasnoznamyonnyk" (which means literally "honored with a Red Banner").
In excellent unissued condition, shows only minor storage age. The gold lettering is still bright. There are areas of slight discoloration around the anchors and letters acquired over the years in storage, probably due to some sort of reaction between the paint of the background cloth and the chemical used to apply the gold letters. There are no wear, tears, rips or significant stains, just some minor spots and dust that may brush off.
